Yesterday, Grace did another livestream where she demonstrated precisely why I’m a fan of hers to the degree that I am.

She was thoughtful in what she said, artistic (insanely creative) creating yet another amazing song written live during the stream (my God, she’s good), looked nothing like girls did when I was 14, and yet despite all of those extraordinary qualities still managed to come across as relatable and charming.

She also shared with us some desperately needed updates regarding the state of her music: all is good – extremely good.

Let’s start from the beginning… the new song (written on the spot). I’m not sure if Grace’s conscious mind was aware of what she was doing, but she just wrote the best theme song for “Stargirl” imaginable.

Please, Disney, Sony, Syco, Grace, Julia Hart, PLEASE consider using this song for the movie? Just release it one week before the film becomes available with a music video that also acts as a trailer for the movie… you will not be sorry.

I’m getting chills just remembering the song. Okay, check these lyrics out, and know, as you’re reading them, that Grace’s subtle, gorgeous phrasing, dynamics, and melody only serve to magnify the awesomesauce flowing from this perfect song…

“I’m a go outside,
I like the grass,
Makes me feel happy in my lungs as the time will pass,

I hope when I see you, you could feel the same,
Maybe we could be more similar every single day?

And I hope I don’t scare you off like everybody else, oh
but, just give me a chance and I promise I can be myself

Maybe this could be something?
Maybe you could see something in me that no one else has ever cared to find or see?

Maybe you could be something?
Maybe you could see something in me that no one else has ever cared to find or see?”

Then she declares she doesn’t have a bridge, but then proceeds to whip one up on the spot and plows on to create more and more (don’t hold her to all of these lines, she was composing in real time)…

“Maybe this could be something?
Maybe you could see something in me that no one else has ever cared to find or see?

Maybe this could be something?
Maybe you could see something in me that no one else has ever cared to find or see?

Cause you see I have hopes, I have dreams of who you’ll be, and who I’ll see and who you could see back at me

Cause you see I have my expectations, way too high to the sky, and jeez, but I hope you can meet me up there with me

Maybe this could be something?

I have dreams
that I hope you’ll meet
I could explain them to you

The wood in my house
I like the smell,
And the buzzin’ outside makes me feel I’m at peace.

And I hope I don’t scare you off like everybody else?
But I promise if you give me a chance I will just be myself.

Cause maybe this could be something?
Maybe you could see something in me that no one else has ever cared to find or see?

Maybe you could see something in me that no one else has ever cared to find or see?
To see?

And I’ll go outside,
I like the grass
Makes my lungs feel clean and put me at peace for the time to pass,

Maybe you could be the same,
that’s one of my dreams
That you and me could be more similar than we think?

And I hope I don’t scare you off like everybody else,
But I promise that if you give me a chance that I could just be myself.

Cause maybe this could be something?
Maybe you could see something in me that no one else has ever cared to find or see?

Maybe you could see something in me that no one else has ever cared to find or see?

Cause the future is comin’ and it’s comin’ fast,
but it’s goin’ so slow at the same time it just won’t pass
And I hope, and I hope, and I dream, and I pray,
that you will give me a chance unlike all the others and see who I really am

So maybe this could be something?
Maybe you could see something in me that no one else has ever cared to find or see?

Maybe this could be something?
Maybe you could see something in me that no one else has ever cared to find or see?
Maybe this could be something?
Maybe you could see something in me that no one else has ever cared to find or see?

Maybe this could be something?
Maybe you could see something in me that no one else has ever cared to find or see?

Find or see…”

That’s “Stargirl” from both the title character’s perspective and Leo’s, back and forth switching and sharing perceptions, expectations, hopes and insecurities.

Gah! I LOVE it!

Yes, I switched up the lyric on the “has ever cared to find or see” repeated line, as I’m assuming Grace may do that when she goes to record this in the studio with a producer (or not, who knows)?

Grace then proceeds to reveal that she may indeed want to release an album rather than an EP if only she can come up with enough material and that MAYBE the above song might be good enough. WOW!

She also shared with us something that I can relate to regarding falling in love with one’s own creations simply because of their novelty, and that only distance through time can provide the necessary objectivity to appreciate what may have been good and what needs to change in order to bring the creation closer to what you had originally intended it to be; to realize its full potential.

Prati Moksha, Darksome Night and I have been working on a project together that we’re all very excited about, but we also have each other to provide instantaneous objectivity that I normally don’t have when simply creating something on my own; they’re saving me from from releasing content too soon, and their own creative input is not only improving the quality of the product, but it’s greatly accelerating that voyage toward its potential realization. It’s going to be a while before we can share what we’re up to, but I’m growing more and more confident that it will be worth the wait.

Sorry, back to Grace… Her Invisalign journey is approaching its end, and what is she most looking forward to? Having the gap back between her two front teeth! Apparently the dental apparatus she’s been using also, while wearing it, removes her front-middle gap. She did say she’s a fan of Brigitte Bardot, after all. Good for you, Grace!

As usual, Olivia inadvertently interrupts the livestream and it ends all too soon, despite having run for over 25 minutes! Best livestream ever!

It’s funny that the song she wrote in it “Be Something/Find or See” is all about projecting what you want onto another, because all I could think of while watching this live stream was that this Grace, during this livestream, is my favourite version of her; confident, artistic, thoughtful, calm and natural.

While the goofy-young-girl version of Grace that showed up for the Grammy Museum interview on July 22nd was charming and affable, this is the Grace I would want to interview one day; to ask serious questions of and expect serious answers, to really get to understand Grace The Artist, and not just Grace The Personality; we don’t get to see The Artist version of her enough.

And here I thought we were in the middle of a drought! LOL

Grace also confirmed that label oversight is an issue regarding playing peaks of songs they’ve earmarked for recording and potentially releasing.

[ Editor’s Note: After discussions in the comment thread and elsewhere, the wording in the original transcription and in the article title has been changed from “follow or see” to “find or see” ]
